This Saturday, along with my fellow Labour team, I went to bother the Island Garden Labour supporters to find out any issues concerning them and galvanise support for our Mayor John Biggs and our MP Mr. Jim Fitzpatrick, Member of Parliament for Poplar and Limehouse.
At the doorsteps, I met a Spanish couple who are not happy over the Brexit shambles. They are blaming Jim Fitzpatrick for voting against his constituents who overwhelmingly voted to remain in the EU and trigger Article 50.
What an irony it was to hear a Labour voter unhappy with an MP who listens to Jeremy Corbyn; and that's being none other than Iraq war voting-inquiry fearing Jim Fitzpatrick MP.
Another voter expressed his concern about rampant local developments, destroying the fabric of the locality. Car park spaces being squeezed, roads getting smaller and one tall tower after another being built that reduce the sunlight coming through residents homes and dim their hopes of a better future living on the Island.
This resident voted for John Biggs last time, and locally always votes Labour. At least since Lutfur Rahman's shambolic corruption and incompetent administration that brought about central government intervention. However, he thinks the Tory government have some good policies and nationally, he votes for the Tories.
